South Baltimore is a multiracial, working-class community where residents live amid toxic infrastructures of all kinds. For years, they have worked with academic allies to study these impositions and organize for environmental justice. In this "hybrid" cross-institutional engaged learning course, students will work in partnership with a cohort at Johns Hopkins University and community partners in the city to research, write, and produce multimedia resources of immediate use in these efforts. Students will gain experience with archival and ethnographic methods, conduct time-sensitive research responsive to movement needs, and produce resources that can help seed a just transition in South Baltimore.
