Course information provided by the 2026-2027 Catalog.

This course has two main goals. One goal is to introduce students to a particular set of topics within the field of behavioral economics, at the graduate level. The focus will be on behavioral economics research about social preferences, self-image concerns, motivated beliefs, bounded rationality, mis-specified mental models, and complexity. The other goal is to provide instruction on the methodology of experimental economics, with a focus on the methods for conducting online and laboratory experiments that are particular to the field of experimental economics. As such, the course complements Behavioral Economics I and can be seen as a continuation of graduate-level instruction in behavioral economics, although there is no need to have taken Behavioral Economics I to take this course.
